Question of the Day

More music questions, you ask? Of course I can ask a music question:

What is the best cover of a song ever recorded?

Note: A cover, if you wondered, is when a band plays a song written and already performed/recorded by another band (ex: Van Halen covered The Kink's "You Really Got Me Now").

Note: I did not ask you the worst cover, because I already know that P Diddy has done the four worst covers in history. I hear, that P Diddy is coming out with an SUV he designed. He basically is going to take the good parts of older SUVs and put them together with his own newer accessories to create an overall worse SUV. Cool.

Great question. Maybe the best yet. I think that when you hear a cover, in order for it to be great, you have to say "How have I not heard this song before?" And that cover has to be better than the original. Worst cover may be Rod Stewart's cover of Oasis' Cigarettes and Alcohol. Not because Cigarettes and Alcohol is that great, but because Rod covered it about twenty minutes after Oasis released it.

So, the best cover...

Kula Shaker's version of "Hush" by Deep Purple. I only knew Deep Purple from Smoke on the Water, but this is the best song Deep Purple wish they could re-record.

This is a very tough question...it's kind of like asking someone what their favorite song is.
Light My Fire as we know it by the Doors is a cover.
The first two Zeppelin albums are laden w/covers.
Hurt by NIN redone by Johnny Cash is probably my favorite cover song. R.E.M. has also done a ton of covers that sound great and lastly....the Beatles originally did a lot of covers. It amazes me how young all of you are...your music tastes reflect your age...as does my mine. For another good music question...check out my blog from a few days ago. It is linked from The High Cheese site

So who is the singer of the cover Wonderwall which is a great song by Oasis?
Is it Mike Flowers?
Is it Ryan Adams?
Is it Sinead?
It certainly wasn't me.
This is interesting 'cause "Hurt" got two votes how many votes is "Wonderwall" getting that are legit?
